About the event
Prosodia is a performance by visual artist Nicoline van Harskamp, staged at PA58 Theater Hall on Sunday, 18 October 2026. Two performances take place, at 2 pm and at 5 pm, each lasting about 75 minutes.
The work imagines a synthetic actress named Prosodia, who rehearses a stage adaptation of an old epic story alongside two human actresses, a stage director and a traditional musician. Her inability to cry creates a problem for the cast, since all epic stories end in tears. Their solution draws on one of Prosodia's oldest features.
Along the way, the piece reflects on three generations of artificial language: tale-singing, acting and synthetic speech. It also questions some of the myths about AI promoted by its for-profit developers. The centrepiece is the Song of Prosodia, an epic synthetic performed by human and synthetic voices, accompanied live on the oud.
Written and directed by Nicoline van Harskamp, with music and oud by Eleni Mik, and performed by Ayisha Siddiqi, Mehrnoush Rahmani and Lidewij Mahler. Entry is free, though donations are welcome. Registration is required through the link on the event page.
