Office Dog brings indie rock sophistication to Lark Berlin. The New Zealand trio — Kane Strang on vocals and guitar, Rassani Tolovaa on bass, and Mitchell Innes on drums — emerged from the southern city of Dunedin before converging in Auckland in 2021 to create together.

Their creative process unfolded in unexpected places: the backs of barber shops, hired church basements, and rearranged lounges. These humble spaces birthed their debut album Spiel, recorded at Roundhead Studios in Auckland with producer De Stevens. The album, released in 2023 through Flying Nun Records for the Oceania market and later via New West Records for international audiences, captured something essential about the joy of making music together. Pitchfork understood it immediately.

The band followed quickly with Doggerland, a 7-track EP released in September 2024 that shows textural depth and experimental edge. Paste Magazine called it "cathartic and bare-boned," capturing the trio's ability to articulate struggle while stepping confidently forward.

Office Dog continues working on their sophomore album — this performance at Lark offers a chance to catch a band in motion, refining their sound and pushing into new territory.
