Michelle's seventh album, "It Was the Moment," offers a new level of emotional surrender through melodramatic chansons. Written and produced during a period of grief and mental instability, the album explores themes of fatalistic passion, ephemeral encounters, loss of home, and existential dissolution. Her sound ranges from dark Lynchian realism to elegant humor, positioning her as a contemporary dramatic balladeer in the lineage of Aznavour and Zeki Müren.
With regularly sold-out shows in Istanbul, Berlin, Warsaw, and Athens, Michelle has built a devoted following among the East-European diaspora and Berlin's queer scene. She maintains complete creative control, self-producing and releasing her albums to preserve intimacy and singleness of expression. Her concerts feature live arrangements and musicians, but her recordings remain bedroom-produced, maintaining her signature fatalist-celebratory approach to songwriting.
