Mercedes Spannagel, an Austrian author born in 1995, presents her award-winning literary work at this exclusive Freundeskreis reading organized by the Stiftung Preußische Seehandlung. She reads from her latest novel "Crashtest Dummies" (published spring 2026 by Blessing Verlag), which explores contemporary themes through sharp, inventive prose. The reading is followed by a conversation with moderator Gesa Ufer about Spannagel's creative practice and literary work. Spannagel's debut novel "Das Palais muss brennen" was nominated for the Austrian Book Prize, and her writing has won numerous awards including the Rauriser Förderungspreis (2017) and the Literaturpreis der Arbeiterkammer Oberösterreich (2021). This intimate event celebrates emerging literary talent and the power of written expression in contemporary culture. Free admission, registration requested.
