Improfest Berlin brings the first German edition of Brazil's International Festival of Improvisation and Sonic Art to Berlin. Since 2007, this festival has connected experimental musicians, sound artists, and institutions across continents, creating a vital platform for free improvisation and cutting-edge music.

This Berlin edition explores the creative intersections of experimental music, improvisation, and innovative instrument building, honoring the legacy of guitarist and luthier Hans Reichel, whose work treated instruments as extensions of the body and imagination. The program spans three afternoon showcases featuring Paulo Hartmann (gambiarra aesthetics), Annette Krebs (sonic experimentation), and Kriton Beyer (daxophone mastery), followed by a round table discussion and evening concerts featuring duos and quartets with Emilio Gordoa on vibraphone.

Alongside acoustic exploration, the festival investigates network technologies as a medium for contemporary improvisation through the Ethernet Orchestra, an ensemble linking geographically distant musicians and sound artists across cultures. The Berlin performance features Alexander Carôt (Soundjack inventor), Paulo Hartmann (bass), and Luam Clarindo (prepared cuíca), among others, creating a unique tele-improvisation experience that bridges acoustic innovation and digital creativity.
