Teshi's Fine Hour present: Susumu Yokota – The Boy And The Tree (2002 – Leaf)

Über das Event

Join Teshi's Fine Hour for a rare listening session celebrating Susumu Yokota's landmark album 'The Boy and the Tree' at Rhinoceros in Berlin. The evening begins at 6:30 PM with the bar, followed by the full LP playback at 8:30 PM.

Susumu Yokota composed this work after visiting Yakushima Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site off southern Japan's coast. The album explores the tension between human greed and nature's fragile beauty, drawing inspiration from the same spiritual landscape that inspired Miyazaki's 'Princess Mononoke'. The 7000-year-old Jōmon Sugi tree and the island's ancient ravine deeply influenced the composition's lush, meditative soundscape.

This newly remastered and reissued Skintone Edition brings pristine, high-fidelity audio to this classic work. Yokota's influence on ambient and electronic music throughout his prolific career (1998-2012) remains profound. The listening is silent and contemplative, creating an intimate experience of this exceptional recording.

First come, first served. No reservations required.
