JazzNights Special

Transcontinental jazz excellence meets Berlin: the JazzNights Special showcases two award-winning bandleaders, American flutist Jamie Baum and German pianist Anke Helfrich, "one of the figureheads of German jazz, a pioneer" (NDR). Both leaders command exceptional ensembles known for improvisational excellence, compositional sophistication, and musical versatility, while serving as powerful female voices in a still male-dominated music world.

The Music

The two bands follow different musical paths exploring "What Times Are These" (the title of Jamie Baum's seventh album), converging toward an inspiring finale rooted in Anke Helfrich's current work: "We'll Rise" — a message of hope and renewal.

The evening also features support from Judith Owen Septett, with Owen managing international performances across the UK, Spain, and France. An autumn German tour is planned.
