A special listening session celebrating J Dilla's legendary 2006 instrumental album "Donuts," released on what would have been his 32nd birthday, just days before his untimely death. This intimate event at Rhinocéros Jazz Bar honors the producer's profound influence on hip-hop and beat production through a complete album playthrough.

The evening unfolds with the bar opening at 6:30 PM, followed by a needle drop at 8:30 PM for silent, attentive listening of the entire record. This is not background music, but a moment to fully absorb the artistry and innovation J Dilla brought to sampling and composition. The album represents a remarkable departure from his earlier soulful, groove-heavy work, instead showcasing his mastery of texture, timbre, and abstract sonic landscapes.

Whether you've been a fan since the Ummah and Slum Village days or discovering his work anew, this 20-year retrospective offers space to reflect on his legacy and his lasting impact on beatmakers and producers worldwide. Come early to settle in, bring friends, and plan to stay late for conversation and drinks after the record concludes.
