Berlin's Echtzeitmusik (real-time music) community gathers at KM28 for a special two-night celebration of saxophonist John Butcher's 65th birthday. The program centers on Induction, an album born from the iconic trio of Butcher, bassist Werner Dafeldecker, and percussionist Burkhard Beins. For this concert series, they're joined by three additional masters of contemporary improvisation: trumpet player Liz Allbee, violinist Jessie Marino, and pianist Andrea Neumann.

Night one opens with the trio's intense saxophone-bass-percussion interplay, moves through a second trio configuration, and culminates in an expansive sextet performance uniting all six musicians. Expect intricate, unpredictable improvisations rooted in listening and responsiveness—the hallmarks of the Echtzeitmusik aesthetic.

This is the first of two performances at KM28. Admission is by donation.
