Borderline are currently among New Zealand's most celebrated indie rock exports. This quartet from Auckland — comprised of singer Ben Glanfield, drummer Jackson Boswell, guitarist Matthew McFadden, and bassist Max Harries — have known each other since primary school. Their early chemistry translated quickly into music: their debut single "Spinning" arrived when they were just 16 years old and immediately gained traction across New Zealand charts.
Over their two EPs "Perfect Movie Scene" (2023) and "Chrysalis" (2025), Borderline refined their distinctly layered sound, blending indie rock, pop, funk, and nostalgic synths into something that feels both current and timeless. Their self-titled debut album, arriving in June 2026, consolidates everything they've learned: bold production, clear artistic vision, and a euphoric yet emotionally grounded indie-pop sensibility that's earned them festival slots at SXSW, The Great Escape, and BIGSOUND.
Live, the band transforms. Their long-standing friendship shines through every minute — you feel the playfulness and intuitive chemistry that comes from decades of knowing each other. With their new album in hand, Borderline are embarking on their first European headline tour this summer, bringing their joyful, energetic indie pop to four German dates, including Berlin's Mikropol.
