A practical workshop exploring light, shadow, and their storytelling power in theatre and beyond. Led by deaf performer Jiayi Wu and hearing lighting designer Claire Terrien, this hands-on session invites both deaf and hearing participants to experiment with lamps, illuminate objects and people, and play with light, shadow, rhythm, and movement.
Participants will learn to install lamps, focus lighting, and create atmospheric lighting designs. The workshop features practical group work, communication support, breaks, and snacks. Workshop languages are DGS (German Sign Language) and DLS (spoken German). Whether you're interested in theatre lighting, visual design, or simply exploring how light shapes our perception, this collaborative experience welcomes all skill levels and backgrounds.
The workshop runs Saturday–Sunday, September 26–27, 10:00–16:30. Read more
