Every year on 15 October, Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) marks the life and work of Fela Kuti, one of the most important musicians of the twentieth century. The event is called A Felasophical Gathering, a nod to the fact that Fela was also an activist, a political figure and a philosopher. The gathering brings together musicians, scholars, activists, storytellers and other co-travellers to unpack the Fela curriculum.

The concert programme opens at 19:00 with the Berlin Afrobeat Company. As in 2024 and 2025, the ensemble opens this year's gathering. The Berlin Afrobeat Company was founded in West Berlin in 1978, following a legendary performance by Fela Kuti and Africa 70 at the Berlin Jazz Days, and many of its most important members decided to stay in Berlin afterwards.

Tickets are 22 €, reduced 18 €.
