Director Deniz Eroglu explores the shadows of German history and the sensation of drifting through three allegorical episodes. "Mutiny" depicts isolated nursing home staff celebrating a party while residents sleep. "Boarding" traces escalating anxiety during a visit by a state official to a refugee family. "Drifting" follows an outcast searching for survival in a wasteland.
The film masterfully shifts between 16mm, 35mm, and VHS footage, interspersed with AI-generated sequences to create a compelling meditation on isolation and belonging. Eroglu's artistic vision captures the complex human experiences at the margins of society — the vulnerability of care workers, the precariousness of displaced families, and the solitude of the dispossessed.
Following the screening, there will be a discussion with director Deniz Eroglu.
