Max Frisch's political parable explores how destructive forces gain traction in society. The protagonist Biedermann, outraged by arsonists terrorizing his city, finds himself paradoxically inviting two suspicious visitors into his own home out of politeness and fear of making enemies. This darkly comic work examines a dangerous mindset—one where people rationalize away obvious threats and allow calamity to unfold. Directed by Fritzi Wartenberg at the Berliner Ensemble's main stage, this production challenges audiences to confront uncomfortable truths about complicity and inaction.
