A poetic exploration by Nobel Prize-winning playwright Peter Handke, directed by Jossi Wieler. A solitary figure wanders through landscapes both inner and outer, searching for connection in a world of overwhelming complexity. The unnamed protagonist engages us in a non-stop meditation on language, presence, and existence—moving between profound philosophical inquiry and playful self-mockery.
Handke's latest work, premiering for the first time at Salzburger Festspiele before its Berlin presentation, remains faithful to his unique theatrical approach: a poetic interrogation of how we speak about and inhabit the world without dominating it. Neither clearly defined character nor obvious narrative, the performance traces a wanderer's journey of questioning, disappearing, and transformation.
A collaboration between Salzburger Festspiele and Berliner Ensemble. In English with German surtitles.
