Kurt Vile returns to Berlin with his touring band The Violators to present "Philadelphia's Been Good to Me," a potent new album that marks the singer-songwriter at the height of his powers. Largely self-produced alongside collaborators including keyboard virtuoso Matthew Jugenheimer, drummer Kyle Spence, and Rob Schnapf, the record showcases Vile's gift for building sweeping, emotionally resonant indie-rock narratives.
The album's centerpiece is a love letter to Vile's hometown of Philadelphia, treating the city as both subject and muse. Standout tracks like "Chance to Bleed" feature appearances from Memphis legends Natalie Hoffman and Greg Cartwright, while "You Don't Know Cuz It's My Life" builds toward an anthemic refrain that captures Vile's unwavering connection to his roots. Throughout, Vile sounds more relaxed and confident than ever, his fingerpicking guitar work and wry, observant lyrics forming the backbone of what may be his most cohesive and organic work to date.
Doors open at 19:00, show starts at 20:00.
