Born in Stockholm, the singer and pianist has established herself as one of the leading figures in Scandinavian jazz. Her music captivates with warm, soulful depth and is the perfect complement to her expressive voice, often compared to the great names of soul.

Ida Sand has been delighting audiences since the early 2000s with her gift for combining musical genres in a personal and authentic way, as her six albums impressively prove. Earthy, distinctive, soul-infused — that is the voice of Ida Sand, arguably the 'blackest' voice in Scandinavia.

Early on, she came into contact with local church music and her parents' classical music, and fell for the irresistible voices of blues and soul greats. Her albums have equally incorporated jazz, pop and folk influences. The current work "My Soul Kitchen" is Ida Sand's clearest declaration of her deep connection and love for 'Sweet Soul Music'.

Songs by soul greats like Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and The Meters — soul in all its facets from funk, R'n'B, New Orleans to Motown — form a soulful unity with Ida Sand's own pieces and interpretations, refined with her very own and extraordinary voice.
