Our experiences shape who we are—but by what rules does the brain store them in long-term memory? And how does our physiological state influence how we process information?
Neuroscientist Lisa Scheunemann and researcher Şevval Demirci investigate how serotonin-mediated neuromodulation might connect our physiological condition with memory systems. Using genetic tools, behavioral studies, and imaging, they analyze learning mechanisms in fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster) to reveal insights relevant to humans.
This panel discussion is part of Berlin Brains, a series exploring neuroscience at the cutting edge, and is accompanied by an exhibition of microscopic images showcasing the beauty of neurons and glial cells.
