BERWYN brings his politically charged and genre-blending artistry to Gretchen for a rescheduled performance. The British rapper, singer and producer has made waves in the UK music scene with his authentic, uncompromising approach—moving fluidly between rap, R&B, spoken word and poetry.
Originally from Trinidad and raised in Romford, BERWYN's journey is one of resilience. He famously locked himself away for two weeks to write and record his debut mixtape DEMOTAPE/VEGA, a raw and authentic collection that transformed his life. His spontaneous verse on "Glory" (performed on Later… with Jools Holland) became a statement of intent following George Floyd's death, marking him as one of the most exciting talents in contemporary music.
Over the past few years, BERWYN has cultivated widespread acclaim: a top three finish in the BBC's Sound Of poll, a Mercury Prize shortlist, MOBO nominations, and an NME Award. His discography includes the mixtapes DEMOTAPE/VEGA and TAPE2/FOMALHAUT, the EP "Bulletproof" (inspired by his return to Trinidad after years of visa struggles), and his fiercely personal debut album Who Am I. In 2024, he was shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize for the second time.
This is a genuine artist constantly evolving and pushing boundaries—someone whose music reflects lived experience and political conviction. Don't miss this chance to experience BERWYN's powerful live presence at one of Berlin's most respected venues.
