A sound installation and art exhibition by Hanno Leichtmann drawing from the archive of Christina Kubisch, the pioneering sound artist. This work reimagines cassette recordings from Kubisch's Milan period (1978–1988), which originally featured field recordings, instruments, and electronic sounds used in her multi-channel installations.
Leichtmann transforms this archival material through granular synthesis, sampling, and spectral processing techniques including re-pitching, time-stretching, and re-synthesis. The installation combines musique concrète traditions with digital audio treatments and analog/digital spectral modules. Alongside the immersive sound experience, the exhibition displays Kubisch's original drawings and sketches documenting her sound installation concepts.
A fascinating dialogue between generations of electroacoustic and sound art practice, bridging the analog archive of 1970s–80s experimental sound to contemporary digital composition techniques.
