Exceptional Finnish bassist Kaisa Mäensivu leads this project featuring the best young musicians from New York's jazz world. Nordic noir meets New York glitz!

Mäensivu founded her ensemble in 2015, debuted in 2017 with In the Key of K, then moved to New York building an international career. Her follow-up Taking Shape, released on Dave Douglas' renowned label Greenleaf Music, represents "a new, progressive, and hard-hitting direction that reflects New York."

She graduated from the Manhattan School of Music in 2017, learning from Dave Liebman and her personal hero, Ron Carter. Winner of first prize at the International Riga Jazz Stage Competition for Bassists (2018) and "Rising Star" award at Pori Jazz Festival.

Mäensivu's compositions are emotive and sophisticated, while her playing is profound and often takes center stage. She now divides her time between New York and Helsinki when not touring worldwide.
