Adorno — A contemporary dance performance by choreographer Alice Ripoll, part of the new series "wielding fissures – carving cracks in the surface of the now" at Radialsystem.
In "Adorno" (Portuguese for "ornament," "decoration," or "adornment"), Alice Ripoll counteracts the age of algorithms with the deeply human: ornamental gestures, changing moods, and spontaneous desires — those seemingly trivial embellishments with which each of us marks life in our own way. This Berlin premiere marks the opening of a new performance series at the venue.
Searching for connection in difference, Ripoll asks: how can we imagine "we" when no two of eight billion people are identical? The audience is carried by an exuberant group that moves forward and backward like the flow of history itself in waves. The scenes unfold in a dreamlike atmosphere, confronting us with what we experience as uniquely ours: our memories, our bodies, our affections — our inner tides.
